During the COVID-19 pandemic, we’re taking extra measures to protect the health of you, our firm, and the community at large.

Our firm is committed to remaining open for our clients and to providing a safe, clean, and enjoyable experience here in our office.

Please be advised that masks are to be worn inside the office at all times. We have plenty of masks on hand and are happy to provide these free of charge.

We have made accommodations in our meeting rooms to ensure social distancing. We’ll also set up easy-to-join virtual meetings whenever we can. Our default choice is Microsoft Teams, but we are open to using other preferred platforms.

Arrival At Reception

Our Reception team has a plexiglass barrier and are working diligently in between meetings to sanitize each room. We have also positioned floor decals to make sure everyone in the office maintains 6 feet of distance.

Mandatory Screening

Our reception team conducts screening questions for all clients and guests upon arrival. In accordance with the latest guidelines, we ask:

  1. Have you travelled outside of BC within the last 14 days?
  2. Have you been in close contact with a confirmed or probable case of COVID-19?
  3. Are you, or someone your household experiencing cold, flu or CVOID-19-like symptoms, even mild ones?

How to join a Microsoft Teams Meeting

We will send you the video call invitation to your email address that we have on file.

Step 1: To start your meeting, select the link in purple to Join (see red box). This will open a new web page.

Step 2: Select the “Join the web instead” option if you do not have Microsoft Teams downloaded on your computer and/or mobile device.

Step 3: Enter in your name, use the slider to turn on audio and video settings, and join the call. You will automatically be sent to our virtual waiting room. For helpful tips and tricks on video calls, see our pointers below.

Tips and Tricks for Video Calls

Don’t wait for our meeting to start to find out your connection is bad, or your software doesn’t work properly. You can test your settings before the video call begins by making a test call and making any tweaks.

Make sure you have your ID and all the documents in front of you that we sent to you in advance. Our legal team will work with you closely to ensure you have received all the necessary documents via email and/or using our secure file sharing and transfer service.

Position the camera so the lawyer can see you sign.

Video calls require bandwidth. If you’re expecting a video call, make sure the smart devices in your home aren’t hogging the connection. If the kids are streaming video games (or Disney+ to keep them quiet in the background) or hefty software programs are running on your PC, all that activity could disrupt your video call at an inopportune time.
