Allen has been practicing law in the Fraser Valley for over forty years and is a key figure in our local legal community. He has a pragmatic, no-nonsense approach to the law, and a talent for building long-lasting relationships with clients and business partners. He began his successful law career articling and practicing with Thompson & McConnell in White Rock, where he practiced in criminal and civil litigation matters. He went on to join fellow UBC classmates at Forbes Nielsen, building his practice in land, estate planning, and business law matters. In 1984, the Langley-based partners at Forbes Nielsen decided to create the partnership known as MacCallum McIntyre, and Allen later established MacCallum Law Group LLP in 2008. In 2012, Allen oversaw MacCallum Law Group’s merger with Bryenton Associates, and in 2017, with Severide, Staplin and Gamlin, one of Langley’s oldest law firms.
Allen has lived in White Rock with his wife Evie since 1974. He plays hockey every Friday morning with a group of business partners, clients, and his two sons – a tradition that started thirty-six years ago. It’s never hard for him to get out of bed; there’s always that cup of coffee and morning walk to look forward to. Sundays are for family. They normally feature a BBQ and maybe a few grandkids and grand-pups keen for a beach walk (depending on the tides). For Allen, work has always influenced life and life has always influenced work; in both arenas, respect and kindness make all the difference in the world.
